AUGUST-SEPTEMBER

Boy, with SO much going on I thought I had better get this posted.

Wishing all of you who have had Birthdays AND Anniversary's in the months of August and September. I apologize for not staying on top of this but with what happened to my Dad we wanted to stay focused on him.

LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK

Someone emailed me this and I had to share...

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car backed out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. He was really friendly.

So I asked, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so ... Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day.

NEWS

Bonnet.....

We welcome GENUINE LIL BONNET! She is such a super sweet horse. We decided to search for another horse and had hopes of finding another one that was registered. We did! Bonnet was listed on craigslist and we could not believe how much this gal was selling her for. Her pedigree can be found on www.allbreedpedigree.com/genuine+lil+bonnet She has some great breeding and she will make a super Mounted Patrol horse for Barry. She is 5 years old and the training she has is unbelievable. All she needs is a tune up.

Dad.....

He is doing great!!! He doesn't have to have PT, OT or Speech Therapy. He is going to Cardio Rehab 3 times a week. He thinks he is going Deer Hunting this year. However we first have to see what the Doctor says on November 3rd.
The other news we found out is that he does have other build up in some arteries in the heart. But he does have medications to help slow it down. That we will take because we feel what he did was a warning sign that something was wrong and it was time to get it checked. Now we will be on top of it!

So today we leave to Emerald, WI and we will spend the night somewhere in New Richmond. Pick up the horse tomorrow and drive back. I will post more and put a picture of her next week. Also, will do a Dad update.

Stay turned.....

Dad Update

Time for the Dad update...

The prayers did it! My Dad is doing great!!

The Sunday after he went into Cardiac Arrest they started to wean him off all the drugs he was on to bring him around. The first thing they did was to see if he could breathe with out the respirator. Then they removed the tube. They wanted to know how is mental state was but with the report we were getting that he was able to identify everyone and say he wanted out...THAT was a good sign. Before I go on...Sunday was the first time I had seen my Dad since this all started. I, of course, lost it when I seen him lying there all hooked up, tube down his throat, and so out of it. Very hard to see.
Anyway, he was awake and during the week everything happened so fast. He still was without food and you could tell he was so hungry but his swallowing reflexes were not the best yet. Then they got out of bed to sit in a chair for a while. He liked that but it was still tough to see someone so independent become dependent. By Thursday he was whisked away and they put in a Medtronic Device called a Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. They felt that what triggered this whole thing was "electrical". In fact wherever this is in the brain, Dad did suffer some slight injury but it will heal in time. Dad was discharged out of CCU and moved to Telemetry and stayed there for a couple of days. After that he went right into Rehab. He improved so fast that he claimed his independence and was ready to go home. So last Friday he refused the wheelchair and wanted to walk out of the hospital. That he did!
He is home now. Off and on he talks with us about what had happened. He then told us that he saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Someone was standing in this light but didn't get to see who it was. I told him maybe it was someone keeping him from entering because it was not his time to go. Or maybe it was someone leading him to it. I guess I would like to look at it the other way.
Now that he is home he will be continuing his recovery with Cardiac Rehab, Doctors appointments and eating healthy. We all will be. We will take this one day at a time and thank God for everyday he gives us with Dad.

Look back on our struggle for freedom, trace our present day's strength to it's source; And you'll find that man's pathway to glory is strewn with the bones of a horse.

Quote of the Day

Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.
