NEW HOMES

Katie and Ginger are now in their new homes.

It has been a difficult morning with horses not loading. Though I do not like the idea have having to use any methods, we did have to give Ginger some B-Kalm and Katie 5cc of Acepromazine. We still had to get some way to get them loaded in the trailer while in their stuper. We took out our lunge line and clipped it to one side and when the horses were near the the door the line went behind their legs and they stepped in. It was disappointing with Ginger because we worked her over and over in the fall and was able to load her. I don't know may be she knew she was going. We really did not want to see her go but she wouldn't get ridden and she NEEDS to be ridden.

So we left later than we wanted and it was snowing pretty hard, too. Not something neither of us wanted because of road conditions. But with Mr.Truck Driver Barry behind the wheel it went fine. Katie ended up getting dropped off first in Jordan. They put her in with a whole bunch of new friends. So I am sure she will forget the ones she had here first. Then off to Cambridge to drop Ginger off. Guess the gal that will be riding Ginger has been smiling from ear to ear and very excited that her husband bought her Ginger for a Christmas present. She took Ginger in her new pasture and showed her around. Rather cute. She didn't want any help at all with her THAT is how excited she was AND she was already to tack her up and go for a ride. My advice was get to know her and ride her at a slow pace so you can get familiar with everything she does. I just hope Ginger will be a great horse for her as she was for us. SHE will be missed.

It has been very hard to see any of the horses we have had go. Ask if I kept it together when we dropped them off?? NOPE!!

We/I will get use to it and hope that everyone will keep in touch with us.

SOON TO SAY...Good bye =(

Ginger....Now this one we will miss the most. Oh Tori was another one that we miss a lot but Ginger was our first saddle up, go for a ride horse. In 4 years we have worked her to the point she has become an awesome trail horse. The decision to sell her was very hard. She was going to be our back up horse for when we become "full" members to our Counties Mounted Patrol. But we have 2 now that are going to need tune ups and that will take up most of our time. all Ginger would do it sit. She needs to get ridden to keep you on the path of being a REAL good horse. We don't have anyone else to ride her and it wouldn't be fair for her to just sit. She is leaving us on Sunday to her new home. She is going to an Artists home. AND he is a great one at that. He does air brushing, pencil, etc. What is so cool about this...his specialty is horses and of course other animals. I am so excited but yet Sunday will be a sad day.

Katie....She was actually our first horse we were able to bring home and say "Now we are horse owners!". She was almost 2 years old when she came to us. Our plan was to have her trained for Brian to ride. But as more horses came the time he had was less. Now we had 3 horses to train. Kate is our last "original" one to see go. She is 6 years old now and she really needs a job to do. So I gave her away.... She is headed to the Minnesota Apple Orchard and she is going to be a trail horse for their riding stable. We will miss her. She became such a big, stocky pretty faced girl. I hope they love her like we have.

To often we under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around

Quote of the Day

Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.
